In Wednesday's non-league outing, the Southwest DeKalb Panthers (Decatur, GA) softball team nipped the visiting Newton Rams (Covington, GA), by a margin of 3-2.

The Panthers now sport a 1-1 record. They put it on the line next when they travel to Westlake for a non-league outing on Thursday, August 14. Southwest DeKalb will encounter a Lions team coming off a 22-13 non-league win over South Cobb (Austell, GA). The Lions record now stands at 3-0.

The Rams (0-2) will now prepare for their test against Grayson (Loganville, GA). The Rams go into the 6A Region 4 test with a 4-2 record. In their last test, Grayson held off Heritage (Conyers, GA), 16-1, in a league test.
