California High School Volleyball - Cabrillo over Artesia
August 20, 2022: Lakewood, CA 90715 Cabrillo Jaguars (Long Beach, CA) backers left the game in high spirits Saturday as they observed their volleyball squad top the host Artesia Pioneers (Lakewood, CA), 3-0 in a non-league match.
Next up, the Jaguars battle the St. Anthony Saints (Long Beach, CA) in a non-league match, on Tuesday, August 23. Cabrillo will attempt to better on its 4-3 season record. The Saints come into the match with a 1-0 record after their 3-0 non-league win over Gahr (Cerritos, CA).
With the loss, Artesia drops to 0-1 on the campaign. The Pioneers host Saint Joseph (Lakewood, CA) to battle the Jesters in a non-league match on Tuesday, August 30. The Jesters come into the match with a record of 2-3. Saint Joseph lost 3-1 in their recent non-league match against Huntington Beach (Huntington Beach, CA)
Match Summary
Finals match in the bronze division of the 2022 tae Kim molten classic. Pitted the lady jags of Cabrillo vs. the pioneers of Artesia with both teams eager and ready to get going. First time entry in the tournament saw the lady jags of Cabrillo high school win in straight sets . 25-22 25-16 25-17. " It's one more special day to remember " says, 3rd year head coach James Kainoa. Cabrillo was led by outstanding play from senior Libero Chelsie Odulio. Coach James , "She is a special player , nothing phases her on that court. She treats every pass, dig as her last. I can't coach that kind of motivation. Chelsie is one of kind. I'm just thankful she's on our team!" She is a great example of hard work determination and big things do come in small packages.
