In their next game, the Raptors face the West Clermont Wolves (Cincinnati, OH) in a Eastern Cincinnati challenge, on Friday, August 29. Anderson will attempt to improve on its 1-0 season record. The Wolves go into the challenge with a 1-0 record after their 42-7 non-league win over Mt. Healthy (Cincinnati, OH).
The Jaguars (0-1) will now prepare for their challenge against Highlands (Fort Thomas, KY). The Bluebirds come into the non-league test with a 1-0 record. In their last test, Highlands triumphed over Frederick Douglass (Lexington, KY), 21-20, in a non-league test.
First Quarter
Anderson won the coin toss and deferred to the second half, and the Raptor defense forced a quick three-and-out on the opening drive to set up a Cooper punt a little under three minutes into the game. Anderson marched the ball down the field well, but eventually stalled out inside the Jaguars 25-yard line and turned the ball over on downs midway through the quarter. Cooper also struggled to get anything going on the ensuing drive and punted the ball back to the Raptors with about three minutes remaining. Quarterback Owen Scalf and company quickly moved the ball into the red zone, but Christian Brown pried the ball out of Brayden Moore's hands and out of the back of the end zone, resulting in a touchback and Jaguar possession with two minutes left in the quarter. With less than a minute to go, a long run by Keagan Maher set Cooper up deep in Anderson territory to end the scoreless first quarter. The Jaguars concluded the quarter with the ball just outside the red zone at the twenty-one.
Second Quarter
The Jaguars quickly moved the ball into the red zone less than a minute after the second quarter began, but Anderson's Ace Alston picked off a Cam O'Hara pass and returned it to midfield to neutralize the threat. Anderson once again entered the Cooper red zone on the next drive, and with 6:51 left in the half, Jordan Davis punched it in from one yard out to give the Raptors the lead. Davis rushed again on the successful two-point conversion to make it an 8-0 game. A long pass from O'Hara to Ryker Campbell and a lengthy run by Maher began a promising answering drive for the Jaguars, but they stalled out across midfield and turned the ball over on downs. With 3 minutes to go, Campbell intercepted a Scalf pass to give possession back to Cooper. However, the Jaguars accomplished little offensively and had to punt the ball away, and the Raptors turned the ball over on downs after that. Thanks to a run by Maher, Cooper kicker Eyler Tibbs was able to make a 24-yard field goal to end the half.
Third Quarter
The Raptors began the 3rd quarter with the ball, and a long touchdown from Scalf to receiver Cooper Kathman just 1:28 into the half extended the Anderson lead. Scalf scrambled into the end zone on the 2-point try to extend the Raptors' lead to 13 at 16-3. On the following drive, Anderson's Ke'Maury Tye forced and recovered a fumble in Cooper territory, and the Raptors were able to march the ball inside the red zone less than a minute later. A Jordan Davis 2-yard touchdown run and 2-point conversion reception made it a 24-3 game. Anderson tried an onside kick that was unsuccessful, but the Raptor defense forced another Jaguar punt. A 41-yard rush by Davis moved the ball down to the three, and with 5 minutes left, Davis carried the ball in from three yards out for another Anderson score. Davis ran again on the successful 2-point conversion to extend the lead to 29. On the ensuing drive, with 2:19 to go, Maher ran nine yards for a Cooper touchdown and Tibbs added the PAT to make it 52-10.
Fourth Quarter
The 4th quarter began with Anderson possession, and on the first play, Scalf connected with Tysin Weaver in the back of the end zone for an 8-yard touchdown. The two-point conversion was no good as Scalf's pass fell incomplete, but the score stood at 38-10. The Jaguar offense was unsuccessful on its next drive, and was forced to punt with 10 minutes remaining in the game. A couple minutes later, Scalf found Nick Rosiello on a bubble screen; Rosiello broke a few tackles en route to a 19-yard touchdown. Anderson kicker Maddux Snider added the extra point to give the Raptors a 45-10 lead as the running clock was instituted. After another Cooper punt gave possession back to Anderson with four minutes to go, freshman backup quarterback Jeremiah Glenn broke free on a scramble up the middle for 82 yards and a Raptor touchdown. Snider's kick extended the lead to 42 at 52-10. The Jaguars could not get a first down on the next drive and time expired before they could make a fourth-down decision.
