The Grimsley Whirlies (Greensboro, NC) football nipped the host West Charlotte Lions (Charlotte, NC), 28-27 in Friday's non-league contest.

The Whirlies (1-0) will now prepare for their contest against West Forsyth (Clemmons, NC). The Titans enter the non-league contest with a 1-0 record. In their last contest, West Forsyth got by Davie County (Mocksville, NC), 42-8, in a non-league contest.

Coming up next, the Lions battle the Monroe Redhawks (Monroe, NC) in a non-league contest, on Friday, August 29. West Charlotte will attempt to advance on its 0-1 season record. The Redhawks go into the bout with a 1-0 record after their 35-0 non-league win over Hoke County (Raeford, NC).
