Kentucky High School Soccer - South Laurel nudges Powell County
August 23, 2025: Stanton, KY 40380 Fans at Saturday's non-league battle between the South Laurel Cardinals (London, KY) and the host Powell County Pirates (Stanton, KY), saw South Laurel's soccer squad hold off Powell County by a count of 3-2.
The Cardinals (4-0) will now prepare for their battle against North Laurel (London, KY). The Jaguars enter the District 49 battle with a 1-4 record. In their last battle, North Laurel was edged by Wayne County (Monticello, KY), 6-0, in a non-league battle.
Next up, the Pirates battle the Jackson City Tigers (Jackson, KY) in a District 54 match, on Tuesday, August 26. Powell County will attempt to move on its 4-1 season record. The Tigers come into the match with a 5-1 record after their 12-0 non-league win over Buckhorn (Buckhorn, KY).
