In Friday's non-league game, the Covington Chargers (Covington, TN) football team knocked off the visiting Brighton Cardinals (Brighton, TN), by a final score of 35-27.

The Chargers (1-1) will now prepare for their game against Dyersburg (Dyersburg, TN). The Trojans come into the 3A Region 7 game with a 2-0 record. In their last game, Dyersburg toppled Lake County (Tiptonville, TN), 48-12, in a non-league game.

The Cardinals now hold a 0-2 record. They take the field next when they travel to Ridgeway for a non-league game on Friday, September 1. Brighton will battle a Roadrunners team coming off a 28-14 non-league loss to Overton (Memphis, TN). The Roadrunners record now stands at 0-2.
