The Portola Bulldogs (Irvine, CA) football edged the host University Trojans (Irvine, CA), 35-34 in Friday's non-league bout.

In their next game, the Bulldogs face the Cerritos Dons (Cerritos, CA) in a non-league bout, on Thursday, August 31. Portola will attempt to advance on its 1-1 season record. The Dons enter the bout with a 1-1 record after their 35-23 non-league loss to Woodbridge (Irvine, CA).

The Trojans (0-2) will now prepare for their bout against Los Amigos (Fountain Valley, CA). The Lobos enter the non-league bout with a 1-0 record. In their last bout, Los Amigos nudged San Bernardino (San Bernardino, CA), 28-27, in a non-league bout.
