In Friday's non-league match, the host Valley Head Tigers football squad scored a close 26-20 victory over the Section Lions.

In their next game, the Tigers clash with the Decatur Heritage Christian Academy Eagles (Decatur, AL) in a 1A Region 7 match, on Friday, September 2. Valley Head will attempt to move on its 2-0 season record. The Eagles enter the match with a 2-0 record after their 26-16 non-league win over Carbon Hill (Carbon Hill, AL).

The Lions (0-2) will now prepare for their match against Collinsville (Collinsville, AL). The Panthers enter the 2A Region 7 match with a 2-0 record. In their last match, Collinsville held off Crossville (Crossville, AL), 33-7, in a non-league match.
