The Benjamin Russell Wildcats football squad scored 40 points and limited the visiting Central of Clay County Volunteers to 7 in the Wildcats non-league triumph on Thursday.

The Wildcats now sport a 1-1 record. They put it on the line next when they travel to Calera for a 6A Region 3 game on Friday, September 5. Benjamin Russell will face a Eagles team coming off a 27-7 non-league loss to Central (Tuscaloosa, AL). The Eagles record now stands at 0-2.

With the defeat, Central of Clay County drops to 1-1 on the campaign. The Volunteers travel to Valley (Valley, AL) to clash with the Rams in a 5A Region 4 outing on Friday, September 5. The Rams come into the game with a record of 2-0. Valley won 37-21 in their recent non-league game against Smiths Station (Smiths, AL)
