In Thursday's non-league challenge, the visiting Asheville Cougars volleyball team scored a 3-1 victory over the McDowell Titans.

With the win, Asheville improves its record to 4-4 on the season. The Cougars host North Buncombe (Weaverville, NC) to meet the Black Hawks in a Mountain 5A/6A challenge on Thursday, September 11. The Black Hawks come into the challenge with a record of 1-6.
