In Friday's non-league game, the Verbena Red Devils (Verbena, AL) football team were victorious over the host Calhoun Tigers (Letohatchee, AL), by a tally of 24-16.

In their next game, the Red Devils face the Keith Bears (Orrville, AL) in a 1A Region 4 game, on Friday, September 5. Verbena will attempt to better on its 2-0 season record. The Bears enter the game with a 2-0 record after their 38-6 non-league win over Dallas County (Plantersville, AL).
