In Friday's non-league match, the host William Penn Bearcats football squad scored a close 22-16 triumph over the Hempfield Black Knights.

The Bearcats (1-1) will now prepare for their match against Manheim Township (Lancaster, PA). The Blue Streaks come into the non-league match with a 1-1 record. In their last match, Manheim Township was nudged by Central York (York, PA), 36-28, in a non-league match.

Coming up next, the Black Knights meet the Governor Mifflin Mustangs (Shillington, PA) in a non-league match, on Friday, September 5. Hempfield will attempt to upgrade on its 1-1 season record. The Mustangs come into the match with a 1-1 record after their 45-13 non-league loss to Perkiomen Valley (Collegeville, PA).
