In Friday's non-league game, the Kearny Komets (San Diego, CA) football team edged the host Monte Vista Monarchs (Spring Valley, CA), by a margin of 12-6.

The Komets now sport a 1-1 record. They take the field next when they travel to Santa Rosa Academy for a non-league outing on Friday, September 12.

With the defeat, Monte Vista drops to 1-1 on the campaign. The Monarchs travel to Castle Park (Chula Vista, CA) to clash with the Trojans in a non-league contest on Friday, September 5. The Trojans enter the contest with a record of 1-1. Castle Park lost 49-6 in their recent non-league contest against Army-Navy (Carlsbad, CA)
