Spectators at Friday's league battle between the Leake Academy Rebels (Madden, MS) and the visiting Simpson Academy Cougars (Mendenhall, MS), saw Leake Academy's football team nip Simpson Academy by a final score of 29-26.

With the win, Leake Academy advances its record to 1-0 on the season. The Rebels travel to Jackson Academy (Jackson, MS) to encounter the Raiders in a non-league battle on Friday, September 5. The Raiders go into the battle with a record of 0-0.

The Cougars now own a 0-1 record. They play next when they host Pillow Academy for a non-league battle on Friday, September 5. Simpson Academy will encounter a Mustangs team coming off a 42-21 non-league loss to Washington (Greenville, MS). The Mustangs record now stands at 1-1.
