In Friday's league match, the visiting Essex Hornets football squad scored a decisive 49-13 triumph over the St. Johnsbury Academy Hilltoppers.

The Hornets (1-0) will now prepare for their match against Champlain Valley Union (Hinesburg, VT). The Redhawks come into the League 1 match with a 1-0 record. In their last match, Champlain Valley Union routed Hartford (White River Junction, VT), 17-0, in a non-league match.
