Kerkhoven-Murdock-Sunburg Fighting Saints (Kerkhoven, MN) followers went home pleased Friday as they saw their football team gain a win over the host Wadena-Deer Creek Wolverines (Wadena, MN), 38-7 in a non-league battle.

With the win, Kerkhoven-Murdock-Sunburg advances its record to 1-0 on the season. The Fighting Saints host Benson (Benson, MN) to play the in a Mid Northwest - Gopher-Gold battle on Friday, September 6. The go into the battle with a record of 0-1. Benson lost 41-6 in their recent non-league battle against Mahnomen/Waubun (Mahnomen, MN)

The Wolverines now own a 0-1 record. They play next when they travel to Pillager for a Mid Northwest - Central battle on Friday, September 6. Wadena-Deer Creek will play a Huskies team coming off a 18-16 non-league win over Osakis (Osakis, MN). The Huskies record now stands at 1-0.
