Illinois High School Volleyball - Roanoke-Benson can't hold off Mendota

In Saturday's non-league match, the Mendota Trojans (Mendota, IL) volleyball squad tipped the host Roanoke-Benson Rockets (Roanoke, IL), by a final score of 2-1.

Next up, the Trojans confront the Hall Red Devils (Spring Valley, IL) in a Three Rivers match, on Tuesday, September 2. Mendota will attempt to advance on its 2-4 season record. The Red Devils come into the bout with a 0-3 record after their 2-0 non-league loss to St. Bede (Peru, IL).

With the loss, Roanoke-Benson drops to 0-5 on the campaign. The Rockets travel to Woodland (Streator, IL) to clash with the Warriors in a Tri-County bout on Thursday, September 4. The Warriors come into the bout with a record of 0-7.

Our pool had all the tourney winners in it. Took a bit to get rolling but hitting finally synced with the rest of the game. We had a huge game 2 comeback. down 8 points, we took the lead and won on some aggressive hitting. Good end to a great hard tournament
