The Mt. Vernon Wildcats football squad scored 45 points and restricted the host Pike Central Chargers to 6 in the Wildcats non-league victory on Friday.

The Wildcats now possess a 2-1 record. They put it on the line next when they travel to Washington for a Pocket - Big School battle on Friday, September 8. Mt. Vernon will play a Hatchets squad coming off a 14-7 non-league loss to North Knox (Bicknell, IN). The Hatchets record now stands at 1-2.

Coming up next, the Chargers encounter the Southridge Raiders (Huntingburg, IN) in a Pocket - Small School contest, on Friday, September 8. Pike Central will attempt to upgrade on its 1-2 season record. The Raiders go into the contest with a 2-1 record after their 63-0 league win over Tecumseh (Lynnville, IN).
