In Friday's non-league game, the McMichael Phoenix (Mayodan, NC) football team triumphed over the visiting Cedar Ridge Fighting Red Wolves (Hillsborough, NC), by a tally of 42-7.

In their next game, the Phoenix face the Rockingham County Cougars (Wentworth, NC) in a Mid-State 3A/4A/5A game, on Friday, September 19. McMichael will attempt to better on its 2-1 season record. The Cougars enter the game with a 1-3 record after their 31-30 non-league loss to Asheboro (Asheboro, NC).

The Fighting Red Wolves (1-3) will now prepare for their game against Northwest Halifax (Littleton, NC). The Vikings come into the non-league outing with a 2-1 record. In their last outing, Northwest Halifax trounced North Edgecombe (Tarboro, NC), 60-0, in a non-league outing.
