In Friday's non-league game, the Hawley Bearcats (Hawley, TX) football squad knocked off the host Merkel Badgers (Merkel, TX), by a margin of 51-34.

The Bearcats now sport a 2-1 record. They take the field next when they travel to De Leon for a non-league outing on Friday, September 19. Hawley will battle a Bearcats team coming off a 41-21 non-league win over Valley Mills (Valley Mills, TX). The Bearcats record now stands at 2-1.

The Badgers (2-1) will now prepare for their game against Cross Plains (Cross Plains, TX). The Buffaloes enter the non-league game with a 1-2 record. In their last game, Cross Plains was toppled by Hico (Hico, TX), 28-13, in a non-league outing.
