Spearfish Spartans (Spearfish, SD) followers went home pleased Friday as they saw their football team gain a win over the visiting Mitchell Kernels (Mitchell, SD), 42-16 in a league match.

The Spartans (2-1) will now prepare for their match against Aberdeen Central (Aberdeen, SD). The Golden Eagles come into the Eastern South Dakota match with a 0-3 record. In their last match, Aberdeen Central was beaten by Brookings (Brookings, SD), 14-10, in a league match.

Coming up next, the Kernels confront the Watertown Arrows (Watertown, SD) in a Eastern South Dakota match, on Friday, September 19. Mitchell will attempt to improve on its 1-2 season record. The Arrows go into the battle with a 0-3 record after their 41-19 league loss to Pierre T.F. Riggs (Pierre, SD).
