Houston Christian Mustangs (Houston, TX) followers went home in high spirits Friday as they saw their football team tip the visiting St. Pius X Panthers (Houston, TX), 23-20 in a non-league battle.

With the win, Houston Christian advances its record to 1-2 on the season. The Mustangs host St. Andrew's (Austin, TX) to play the Highlanders in a Southwest Prep 3A battle on Friday, September 20. The Highlanders go into the battle with a record of 2-1. St. Andrew's lost 34-0 in their recent non-league battle against St. Michael's (Austin, TX)

The Panthers now own a 1-2 record. They play next when they host St. Thomas Catholic for a TAPPS Division I District 2 battle on Friday, September 27. St. Pius X will play a Eagles team coming off a 27-17 non-league loss to Kinkaid (Houston, TX). The Eagles record now stands at 0-3.
