The South Mecklenburg Sabres football team (Charlotte, NC), was topped 40-13 in Friday's non-league bout with the visiting Independence Patriots (Charlotte, NC)

With the win, Independence advances its record to 4-0 on the season. The Patriots host Charlotte Catholic (Charlotte, NC) to encounter the Cougars in a Southwestern 4A bout on Friday, September 27. The Cougars go into the bout with a record of 1-2.

The Sabres now own a 0-3 record. They play next when they travel to Olympic for a 4A South Meck bout on Friday, September 20. South Mecklenburg will encounter a Trojans team coming off a 35-24 non-league loss to Shelby (Shelby, NC). The Trojans record now stands at 3-1.
