Wortham Bulldogs (Wortham, TX) followers went home in high spirits Friday as they saw their football team tip the visiting Leon Cougars (Jewett, TX), 20-18 in a non-league battle.

With the win, Wortham advances its record to 2-1 on the season. The Bulldogs host Frost (Frost, TX) to play the Polar Bears in a 2A-2 Region III District 10 battle on Friday, September 27. The Polar Bears go into the battle with a record of 2-2. Frost won 71-18 in their recent non-league battle against CTSA Outlaws (China Spring, TX)

The Cougars now own a 2-1 record. They play next when they travel to Cross Roads for a non-league battle on Friday, September 20. Leon will play a Bobcats team coming off a 36-14 non-league win over Meridian (Meridian, TX). The Bobcats record now stands at 1-1.
