September 14, 2023: Elk City, OK 73644 Merritt Oilers (Elk City, OK) backers exited the stadium thrilled Thursday as they saw their softball squad nip the visiting Ponca City Wildcats (Ponca City, OK), 4-1 in a non-league challenge.
The Oilers now own a 14-10 record. They take the field next when they host Sentinel for a non-league challenge on Thursday, September 14. Merritt will battle a squad coming off a 5-1 non-league win over Rush Springs (Rush Springs, OK). The record now stands at 16-9.
With the loss, Ponca City falls to 15-10 on the campaign. The Wildcats travel to Elk City (Elk City, OK) to battle the Elks in a non-league challenge on Friday, September 15. The Elks enter the challenge with a record of 20-9. Elk City lost 6-4 in their recent league challenge against Weatherford (Weatherford, OK)
