The Eastside Eagles (Covington, GA) softball nipped the host Newton Rams (Covington, GA), 2-1 in Saturday's non-league bout.

The Eagles (10-2) will now prepare for their bout against Clarke Central (Athens, GA). The Gladiators go into the AAAAA Region 8 bout with a 4-10 record. In their last bout, Clarke Central was edged by Apalachee (Winder, GA), 8-0, in a league bout.
