The crowd at Friday's non-league contest between the Sumner Stingrays (Riverview, FL) and the visiting Plant Panthers (Tampa, FL), witnessed Sumner's football squad edge Plant by a tally of 28-24.

The Stingrays (4-1) will now prepare for their contest against Plant City (Plant City, FL). The Raiders go into the 7A District 7 bout with a 5-0 record. In their last bout, Plant City got by Steinbrenner (Lutz, FL), 31-14, in a non-league contest.

Coming up next, the Panthers confront the Armwood Hawks (Seffner, FL) in a 6A District 8 contest, on Friday, September 26. Plant will attempt to better on its 2-3 season record. The Hawks enter the contest with a 5-0 record after their 56-7 non-league win over Hillsborough (Tampa, FL).
