The crowd at Friday's non-league contest between the Connally Cadets (Waco, TX) and the host La Vega Pirates (Waco, TX), observed Connally's football squad edge La Vega by a count of 35-34.

The Cadets now own a 2-0 record. They play next when they travel to C.H. Yoe for a non-league contest on Friday, September 9. Connally will play a Yoemen squad coming off a 62-28 non-league win over Yoakum (Yoakum, TX). The Yoemen record now stands at 2-0.

Coming up next, the Pirates play the Midlothian Heritage Jaguars (Midlothian, TX) in a 5A-2 Region II District 5 contest, on Friday, September 9.
