New York High School Football - Gouverneur can't hold off Canton
September 21, 2024: Canton, NY 13617 Canton Golden Bears (Canton, NY) followers went home in high spirits Saturday as they saw their football team tip the visiting Gouverneur Wildcats (Gouverneur, NY), 18-14 in a league battle.
With the win, Canton advances its record to 2-1 on the season. The Golden Bears travel to Massena (Massena, NY) to play the Raiders in a Section 10 battle on Friday, September 27. The Raiders go into the battle with a record of 0-3. Massena lost 52-0 in their recent non-league battle against Beekmantown (Plattsburgh, NY)
The Wildcats now own a 1-1 record. They play next when they travel to South Jefferson for a non-league battle on Friday, September 27. Gouverneur will play a Spartans team coming off a 30-20 non-league win over Central Valley Academy (Ilion, NY). The Spartans record now stands at 2-0.
