West Virginia High School Football - Mingo Central topples Independence

September 22, 2023: Matewan, WV 25670

The Mingo Central Miners (Matewan, WV) football defeated the visiting Independence Patriots (Coal City, WV), 24-6 in Friday's non-league bout.

In their next game, the Miners face the Scott Skyhawks (Madison, WV) in a non-league bout, on Friday, September 29. Mingo Central will attempt to advance on its 5-0 season record. The Skyhawks enter the bout with a 5-0 record after their 40-7 league win over Chapmanville Regional (Chapmanville, WV).

The Patriots (2-2) will now prepare for their bout against Bluefield (Bluefield, WV). The Beavers enter the Coalfield AA bout with a 1-3 record. In their last bout, Bluefield lost by Woodrow Wilson (Beckley, WV), 28-27, in a non-league bout.
