Illinois High School Soccer - St. Pius X held off by Marquette Catholic
September 23, 2023: Alton, IL 62002 The crowd at Saturday's non-league test between the Marquette Catholic Explorers (Alton, IL) and the visiting St. Pius X Lancers (Festus, MO), saw Marquette Catholic's soccer squad get by St. Pius X by a margin of 4-3.
The Explorers now sport a 10-2 record. They play next when they host Althoff Catholic for a Gateway Metro test on Tuesday, September 26. Marquette Catholic will meet a Crusaders squad coming off a 4-0 league win over Metro-East Lutheran (Edwardsville, IL). The Crusaders record now stands at 10-2.
With the loss, St. Pius X drops to 4-4 on the season. The Lancers host Hillsboro (Hillsboro, MO) to meet the Hawks in a non-league test on Monday, September 25. The Hawks come into the test with a record of 4-4. Hillsboro won 7-2 in their recent non-league test against Riverton (Riverton, IL)
