September 26, 2025: Fort Wingate, NM 87316 The crowd at Friday's league contest between the Wingate Bears (Fort Wingate, NM) and the visiting Zuni Thunderbirds (Zuni, NM), saw Wingate's football team bounce Zuni by a final score of 48-0.
With the win, Wingate advances its record to 4-2 on the season. The Bears travel to Shiprock (Shiprock, NM) to encounter the Chieftains in a 3A District 1 bout on Thursday, October 2. The Chieftains go into the bout with a record of 0-5. Shiprock lost 57-6 in their recent non-league bout against Montezuma-Cortez (Cortez, CO)
The Thunderbirds now possess a 1-4 record. They put it on the line next when they host Gallup for a 3A District 1 contest on Friday, October 3. Zuni will battle a Bengals squad coming off a 31-6 league loss to Thoreau (Thoreau, NM). The Bengals record now stands at 2-4.
