In Wednesday's non-league battle, the visiting Aquinas Knights volleyball team scored a tight 3-2 triumph over the Springfield Spartans.

The Knights (4-9) will now prepare for their battle against Rootstown (Rootstown, OH). The Rovers come into the Portage Trail - County battle with a 12-4 record. In their last battle, Rootstown nudged John F. Kennedy Catholic (Warren, OH), 3-0, in a league battle.

Next, the Spartans clash with the Field Falcons (Mogadore, OH) in a Portage Trail - Metro battle, on Thursday, September 30. Springfield will attempt to advance on its 2-11 season record.
