Match Summary
The young Phoenix team appeared to be just waking up in the first set of their first round match in Jackson, AL, not moving much as they were battered by an onslaught of Lady Colts power serving, spikes and tips. In the second set, the Lady Colts let up on their serving, allowing the Phoenix girls to get more rally opportunities. In the second match vs. the ECA Lady Lions, our girls kept the game much more competitive. They were awake, alert and receiving, passing and hitting the ball, as well as keeping the Lions on their heels a bit with their own good serving. Unfortunately, in the second set, our young squad fell far behind right away, unable to stop the Lions' best server's onslaught. Our girls were able to rally somewhat afterward, but never got back in the game. It was a fun tournament, though, and the young team stayed together, supported each other and grew and matured as a team through the experience!
