The Merced Bears football team (Merced, CA), was beaten 34-20 in Friday's non-league challenge with the host Downey Knights (Modesto, CA)

The Knights (1-1) will now prepare for their challenge against Beyer (Modesto, CA). The Patriots come into the non-league challenge with a 0-2 record. In their last challenge, Beyer was beaten by Modesto (Modesto, CA), 46-14, in a non-league challenge.

The Bears now sport a 1-2 record. They take the field next when they host Madera for a non-league challenge on Thursday, September 9. Merced will meet a Coyotes team coming off a 35-6 non-league win over Kerman (Kerman, CA). The Coyotes record now stands at 2-0.
