In Friday's non-league game, the Bastrop Bears (Bastrop, TX) football team were victorious over the host China Spring Cougars (China Spring, TX), by a score of 48-34.

In their next game, the Bears face the Prestonwood Christian Lions (Plano, TX) in a non-league game, on Friday, September 12. Bastrop will attempt to improve on its 2-0 season record. The Lions enter the game with a 0-1 record after their 28-21 non-league loss to All Saints (Fort Worth, TX).

With the defeat, China Spring drops to 1-1 on the campaign. The Cougars host University (Waco, TX) to clash with the Trojans in a non-league outing on Friday, September 12.
