In Friday's non-league match, the host Bishop McGuinness Fighting Irish football squad scored a close 22-17 victory over the Bishop Kelley Comets.

The Fighting Irish (2-0) will now prepare for their match against Bishop Lynch (Dallas, TX). The Friars enter the non-league match with a 1-1 record. In their last match, Bishop Lynch was nudged by Midland Christian (Midland, TX), 38-34, in a non-league match.

Coming up next, the Comets confront the Springdale Bulldogs (Springdale, AR) in a non-league battle, on Friday, September 12. Bishop Kelley will attempt to advance on its 0-1 season record. The Bulldogs go into the battle with a 1-1 record after their 52-41 non-league win over Van Buren (Van Buren, AR).
