The crowd at Saturday's non-league bout between the Montrose Red Hawks (Montrose, CO) and the visiting Eagle Valley Devils (Gypsum, CO), saw Montrose's softball squad nip Eagle Valley by a score of 8-1.

With the triumph, Montrose improves its record to 6-1 on the year. The Red Hawks travel to Grand Junction (Grand Junction, CO) to play the Tigers in a 5A/4A Southwestern game on Tuesday, September 9. The Tigers enter the game with a record of 7-3. Grand Junction won 10-4 in their recent league game against Durango (Durango, CO)

The Devils now hold a 3-4 record. They play next when they travel to Rifle for a 4A Western Slope game on Tuesday, September 9. Eagle Valley will play a Bears team coming off a 16-1 non-league win over Poudre (Fort Collins, CO). The Bears record now stands at 7-4.
