In Friday's league match, the host Merrillville Pirates football squad scored a good 17-7 victory over the Portage Indians.

In their next game, the Pirates clash with the Michigan City Wolves (Michigan City, IN) in a Duneland match, on Friday, September 15. Merrillville will attempt to move on its 3-1 season record. The Wolves enter the match with a 2-2 record after their 31-7 league loss to Valparaiso (Valparaiso, IN).
