September 8, 2025: Fitzgerald, GA 31750 The crowd at Monday's non-league bout between the Wheeler County Bulldogs (Alamo, GA) and the host Fitzgerald Purple Hurricane (Fitzgerald, GA), saw Wheeler County's softball squad topple Fitzgerald by a score of 13-0.
With the triumph, Wheeler County improves its record to 11-4 on the year. The Bulldogs host Telfair County (McRae, GA) to face the Trojans in a 1A D-II Region 4 game on Tuesday, September 9. The Trojans enter the game with a record of 7-5. Telfair County won 11-4 in their recent non-league match against Dodge County (Eastman, GA)
In their next game, the Purple Hurricane battle the Jeff Davis Yellowjackets (Hazlehurst, GA) in a 1A D-I Region 1 match, on Tuesday, September 9. Fitzgerald will attempt to better on its 2-14 season record. The Yellowjackets go into the match with a 9-3 record after their 14-1 league win over Berrien (Nashville, GA).
