The crowd at Wednesday's non-league battle between the Fairfield Mules (Fairfield, IL) and the visiting Salem Wildcats (Salem, IL), saw Fairfield's baseball team beat Salem by a margin of 8-5.

The Mules (8-5) will now prepare for their battle against Hamilton County (McLeansboro, IL). The Foxes enter the Black Diamond East battle with a 5-8 record. In their last battle, Hamilton County by Fairfield (Fairfield, IL), 6-4, in a league battle.

Next, the Wildcats face the East Alton-Wood River Oilers (Wood River, IL) in a non-league battle, on Thursday, April 17. Salem will attempt to improve on its 7-8 season record. The Oilers enter the battle with a 5-10 record after their 11-1 league loss to Salem (Salem, IL).
