Ottawa Pirates (Ottawa, IL) backers were pleased Friday as they saw their basketball squad knock off the visiting Geneseo Maple Leafs (Geneseo, IL), 61-50 in a league bout.

With the victory, Ottawa upgrades its record to 15-1 on the campaign. The Pirates travel to Mendota (Mendota, IL) to play the Trojans in a non-league battle on Tuesday, February 11. The Trojans come into the battle with a record of 14-6. Mendota won 68-49 in their recent league battle against Oregon (Oregon, IL)

The Maple Leafs (7-12) will now prepare for their battle against Rockridge (Taylor Ridge, IL). The Rockets come into the non-league battle with a 21-0 record. In their last battle, Rockridge beat Kewanee (Kewanee, IL), 102-48, in a league battle.
