The Mattoon Green Wave routed the visiting Salem Wildcats softball squad by a count of 9-1 in Saturday's league battle.

The Green Wave (11-3) will now prepare for their battle against Salem (Salem, IL). The Wildcats go into the Apollo battle with a 4-12 record. In their last battle, Salem was routed by Olney (Richland County) (Olney, IL), 12-2, in a non-league battle.

The Wildcats now sport a 4-14 record. They play next when they travel to Mattoon for a Apollo battle on Saturday, April 23. Salem will meet a Green Wave squad coming off a 13-2 non-league win over Centennial (Champaign, IL). The Green Wave record now stands at 9-3.
