Spectators at Thursday's league match between the Mt. Vernon Wildcats (Mt. Vernon, IN) and the visiting Boonville Pioneers (Boonville, IN), witnessed Mt. Vernon's softball squad tip Boonville by a count of 6-3.

The Wildcats now sport a 5-3 record. They play next when they host Washington for a Pocket match on Saturday, April 9. Mt. Vernon will meet a Hatchets squad coming off a 17-7 league loss to Forest Park (Ferdinand, IN). The Hatchets record now stands at 0-1.

With the loss, Boonville moves to 1-2 on the season. The Pioneers host Pike Central (Petersburg, IN) to meet the Chargers in a non-league match on Saturday, April 9. The Chargers go into the match with a record of 3-2. Pike Central won 6-2 in their recent non-league match against Loogootee (Loogootee, IN)
