Texas High School Basketball - Alief Elsik trounced by Strake Jesuit
January 9, 2009: Houston, TX 77411 The Strake Jesuit Crusaders routed the host Alief Elsik Rams basketball team by a final score of 62-34 in Friday's league game.
In their next game, the Crusaders face the Alief Taylor Lions (Houston, TX) in a 5A Region III District 18 game, on Monday, January 12. Strake Jesuit will attempt to move on its 21-0 season record.
With the defeat, Alief Elsik moves to 9-10 on the year. The Rams travel to Memorial (Houston, TX) to face the Mustangs in a 5A Region III District 18 game on Monday, January 12. The Mustangs enter the battle with a record of 11-9.
First Quarter
In their first on the road game, the Crusaders would take on the Elsik Rams in what proved to be a heated game from the tip. The Rams looked to press the Crusaders and keep up hard pressure but, Jesuit went right at Elsik's defense and scored early in transition.
Second Quarter
The Rams took a shot in the final seconds of the 2nd quarter only to miss it where the Crusaders would then make a furious push down the floor to take a last second shot at the half put the Crusaders up and out of reach as the Rams were held in check.
Fourth Quarter
In the final quarter, Jesuit executed the game plan and finished off a solid Elsik team.
