Hickory Red Tornadoes (Hickory, NC) backers were pleased Friday as they saw their basketball squad knock off the visiting Alexander Central Cougars (Taylorsville, NC), 43-32 in a league bout.

With the victory, Hickory upgrades its record to 8-4 on the campaign. The Red Tornadoes host St. Stephens (Hickory, NC) to play the Indians in a non-league bout on Tuesday, January 22. The Indians come into the bout with a record of 9-3. St. Stephens won 60-41 in their recent non-league bout against South Caldwell (Hudson, NC)

Next up, the Cougars play the South Caldwell Spartans (Hudson, NC) in a bout, on Tuesday, January 22. Alexander Central will attempt to upgrade on its 4-8 season record. The Spartans come into the bout with a 2-5 record after their 60-41 non-league loss to St. Stephens (Hickory, NC).
