New York High School Softball - Pavilion tipped by Avon
April 29, 2019: Avon, NY 14414 In Monday's non-league outing, the host Avon Braves softball team scored a close 4-2 win over the Pavilion Golden Gophers.
Coming up next, the Braves battle the Oakfield-Alabama Hornets (Oakfield, NY) in a non-league outing, on Tuesday, April 30. Avon will attempt to upgrade on its 4-5 season record. The Hornets enter the outing with a 2-4 record after their 14-8 league loss to Webber (Lyndonville, NY).
The Golden Gophers (3-4) will now prepare for their outing against Letchworth (Gainesville, NY). The Indians enter the non-league outing with a 4-2 record. In their last outing, Letchworth tipped Geneseo (Geneseo, NY), 9-2, in a non-league outing.
Game Summary
Pavilion struck first in the top of the first inning as leadoff hitter Aprile Boohler reached on an error after a strikeout. She came around to score on three wild pitches. Avon evened the score in the bottom of the first as their leadoff hitter, Nora Hayes, walked and advanced to second on a ground out. She later scored on a two out single by Abby Decillis. Pavilion took a 2-1 lead in the fourth as clean up hitter Lindsay Lowe reached on a one out error and advanced to second on a ground out. Two wild pitches brought her around to score. A three run rally by the Braves in the bottom of the fifth decided the game. Nora Hayes and Keni Read hit consecutive singles to start the inning. Joleigh Crye followed with a walk to load the bases. After a strikeout, Decillis lined a single to center to drive in the tying and go ahead runs. Crye later scored the third run of the inning when the catcher threw to first on a dropped third strike.
