Game Summary
With a large contingent of the Ponte Vedra student body wearing special T Shirts with a photo of their revered coach Bud Beech on the front and the inscription “Fear the Beech” on the back, the Ponte Vedra Sharks defeated arch rival Nease 41-30 Wednesday night.
The Sharks utilized a stifling defense against Nease that switched from time to time from a matching zone to a hard man-to-man defense that baffled the host Panthers the entire evening.
The Sharks jumped out the gates early by limiting the Panthers to but 3 first quarter points while scoring 12.
Nease only outscored the Sharks in one quarter, that being the second period of action when they edged the visitors by just one field goal as Ponte Vedra led 22-15 at the halftime break.
Nease never closed within seven points the rest of the game in the low scoring affair where made baskets were at a premium.
