Red Mountain Mountain Lions (Mesa, AZ) backers exited the stadium thrilled Saturday as they saw their softball squad nip the visiting Highland Hawks (Gilbert, AZ), 6-1 in a non-league challenge.

The Mountain Lions now own a 5-0 record. They take the field next when they host Chaparral for a non-league challenge on Saturday, February 24. Red Mountain will face a Firebirds squad coming off a 9-1 non-league win over Corona del Sol (Tempe, AZ). The Firebirds record now stands at 2-1.

With the loss, Highland falls to 3-2 on the campaign. The Hawks travel to Queen Creek (Queen Creek, AZ) to face the Bulldogs in a non-league challenge on Saturday, February 24. The Bulldogs enter the challenge with a record of 2-1. Queen Creek won 8-3 in their recent non-league challenge against Arizona College Prep (Chandler, AZ)
