Game Summary
St. Peter's Prep Freshmen hosted Wayne Valley in the quarterfinal game of the Ben Jurgensen Memorial Freshmen Tournament at Laurel Hill in Secaucus. Prep scored three in the 2nd inning after 2B Tyler Mancini (2-3, R, SB) singled, stole 2nd, and scored when C James Cruz reached on a error. CR Richie Luzzi-Liggins stole 3rd and scored on an RBI-single by LF Thomas Cotter (1-2, RBI, R, SB), who later scored on an error. Wayne Valley scored three in the 5th to tie the game, but Prep answered in the home half. With 2 outs, SS Kyle Hess singled and scored on an RBI-double by RF/1B Sean Demo (2-3, 3 SB). After Demo stole 3rd, CF Jeremiah Guzman smacked a triple down the LF line, scoring Demo and giving Prep a 5-3 lead. RHP Jack Kramer (5 IP, 3 R, 3 ER, 3 H, 3 BB, HBP, 5 K) earned the win and RHP William Kelley (2 IP, 0 R, 0 H, BB, 2 K) picked up the save for the Marauders, now 18-1. Prep advances to the semifinals.
